About Springfield House Residential Home

Manager at Springfield Residential Care Home, Mrs Lindsey Dragon Springfield House Residential Home is a 23 bed home on the Outskirts of Central Southampton. We cater for both private and local Authority residents with dementia. Springfield has a high reputation for providing quality residential care in Southampton. Our team of highly trained staff provide 24 hour care for our elderly residents to ensure their safety is met at all times. We strive to provide a Person Centred care approach to each individual in the home. We take pride in providing a friendly and homely environment, Welcoming families into our home.

The physical environment is designed for the resident’s convenience and comfort which includes maintaining buildings and grounds in a safe condition, ensuring communal areas are safe and comfortable and toilet, washing and bathing facilities are suitable for the residents in our care. Specialist equipment is available to maximize and maintain residents’ independence.

To comply with safety requirements, for residents with dementia or who are particularly frail in health, we have radiator guards throughout the home, all hot pipe work surfaces are protected as well to prevent contact burns. We also have anti-scalding thermostatic valves on all baths and basins so that the hot water cannot be dispensed above 43°C in temperature within the home.

Provision of accommodation that meets the national minimum care standards act, is achieved throughout and is a prime directive.

We ensure residents have safe and comfortable bedrooms with their own personal property around them. We ensure the premises are kept clean and hygienic and free from odours with suitable systems in place to control the spread of infection. Residents rooms within the home consist of six double rooms and eleven single rooms, all of which meet the size requirements laid down by the Care Standards Commission regarding an existing care home.

The home has a grass and paved garden area at the rear of the building which is bordered by walled shrub areas. This area is secured for residents’ safety by boundary walls.

Lindsey Dragon is the manager at the home with Kate Giles as her Deputy. They both are passionate about making Springfield welcoming and caring so that both residents and families are able to approach either one of them and be treated with dignity and respect.

Lindsey has over fifteen years’ experience in the care industry and has worked at Springfield for nearly three years. Lindsey has been managing the home for a year from the deputy position she held.

Kate Giles was a senior carer for Springfield and has worked at the home for five years. Kate became the Deputy Manager in August 2014 and as a team they work well together ensuring that the needs of the residents are met to the highest standard.

We aim to continue to provide a high level of care to people living with Dementia and understanding the effects it has on both the individual and their family thus having the holistic approach to support every person who comes into the home.

Owners: Richard and Elizabeth Kitchen

Richard and Elizabeth Kitchen opened their first care home in 1988. Having worked as a care assistant, Mrs Kitchen felt that she could run a more caring and friendly home. Beginning with a small 3 bed premises, they set out to apply the principle of making each care home into a place where they would be happy to live themselves.

They now run four homes in the Southampton area, one of which provides nursing care. All staff are fully qualified and hand-picked to provide the very highest standard of care. Each home has been extensively refurbished and has comfortable and spacious accommodation. Food is prepared in our homes’ modern kitchens by qualified chefs. The menus offer a variety of wholesome dishes and all dietary requirements both medical and religious, are catered for.

We take a personal interest in the welfare and comfort of all our residents, visiting all our homes on a regular basis. Our managers and staff are all trained to provide the sort of service we would like to enjoy -ourselves!
